City Health Development Plan Training Was Realized

Hosted by Çankaya Municipality, one of our member municipalities, the City Health Development Plan Training was held on 28-30 November 2017 under the guidance of Turkish Healthy Cities Association Advisory Board Member Adnan Menderes University Nursing Faculty Dean and Faculty of Medicine Public Health Teaching Member Prof. Dr. Emine Didem Evci Kiraz.

The inauguration of training, to which 36 municipal representatives of Turkish Healthy Cities Association, representatives of relevant Ministries and Directorates attended, started with the speech of the host Vice President of Çankaya Municipality.

Following the opening speech “What is city health development plan and why should it be prepared?” the Director of the Association Murat Ar made the presentation titled

“What is city health development plan and why should it be prepared?” After the presentation, the certificate was given to Çankaya Municipality due to Carbon Footprint Inventory, and Sustainable Energy Action Plan works.

After the break, the training program continued with the presentation of Dr. Emine Didem Evci Kiraz on “Measuring and improving urban health.”

After the presentation, Aylin Cengiz Yel from İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, Esra Tekin from Çankaya Municipality and İnci Çalışkan from Tepebaşı Municipality explained their municipalities’ city health development plan preparation process. The speakers shared information such as why they were preparing a city health development plan, who should be on the team, how long it took them to prepare their development plan, where they got the data from, who they cooperated with, when they updated their development plans as well as their suggestions for those who would prepare the development plan.

After lunch, the participants were divided into groups to share their experiences and exchange their ideas in the session of preparing development plan draft by evaluating example city health profile under the moderatorship of Prof. Dr. Emine Didem Evci Kiraz and under the spokesmanship of Research Assistant Dr. Çiğdem Yılmaz Aydın and Research Assistant Dr. Sercan Öztürk.

At the end of the first day, Anıtkabir and then the social projects of the Çankaya Municipality Masal Kalesi Day Care Center and Zülfü Livaneli Culture Center were visited with the participants.

On the second day of the training, Recep Hıdır from Tirebolu Municipality, Esra Tekin from Çankaya Municipality and Necla Yörüklü from Nilüfer Municipality made their presentations to explain the results of group works.

A certificate was presented to the municipalities that prepared the City Health Development Plan.

At the end of the meeting, the certificates were presented to Aylin Cengiz Yel on behalf of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, to Nilay Oğultürk, on behalf of Çankaya Municipality and to İnci Çalışkan on behalf of Tepebaşı Municipality for the City Health Development Plans that they prepared. The certificate to Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Coordinator Nalan Fidan, who could not attend the training due to her program, was presented in Bursa after the training.

Following the certificates of appreciation given to the trainers, the training program was ended by visiting Çankaya Houses, culture and arts centers, children’s technology house, health and rehabilitation centers, parks and playgrounds with natural materials and Ankara Castle.

The Strategy Plan of the Association was Discussed.

The day after the City Health Development Plan training, the new strategy plan of the Association was discussed by coming together with the members of the Association Advisory Board Professor Dr. Emine Didem Evci Kiraz, Assoc. Dr. İnci Parlaktuna and Assoc. Dr. Gül Sayan Atanur.
