On October 12, 2022, Alinur Aktaş, Chairman of Turkish Healthy Cities Association, and the accompanying delegation participated in the WHO European Healthy Cities Network Online Political Committee Meeting with the theme “Leading Healthy Cities with Examples: One Planet, One Humanity, One Health”.
The opening speeches of the meeting were made by Hans Henri P. Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe; Nino Berdzuli, Director of the Division of Country Health Programmes, and Kira Fortune, Regional Adviser, Healthy Cities, Health Promotion and Well-being. During the opening speeches, topics of the regional roadmap to operationalize One Health, the focus of healthy cities and their approach on One Health to building a resilient future were discussed.
At the meeting, members of the Political Committee were asked, “What actions have you and your city taken forward to operationalize the One Health approach?” and “What are your priorities as a city to build a resilient future through a One Health approach, and do the drafted policy recommendations speak to those priorities?”. Alinur Aktaş, Chairman of the Turkish Healthy Cities Association and Member of the Political Committee of the WHO European Healthy Cities Network, along with representatives of other countries, gave detailed information about the work done and shared her experiences with the participants.
In the continuation of the meeting, representatives of different countries shared their presentations on topics such as planet and space, one health, building resilient cities, sustainable urban design and creation of healthy spaces, humanity and prosperity, creating prosperous lives and prosperous economies for all, building fairer, inclusive and healthier societies, lessons learned from COVID-19, immigration and health, promoting partnerships in mental health for a healthier future, and the meeting ended after the participants’ views on the future were received
