The Awards for Healthy Cities – Best Practices 2016 are announced

The awards of Healthy Cities Association Healthy Cities – Best Practices 2016 for which 34 municipalities applied with 100 projects, are announced.
28 projects in Social Responsibility category, 20 projects in Healthy City Planning category, 31 projects in Healthy Living category, and 21 projects in Healthy Environment category were evaluated by the jury.
The projects were assessed by the jury presided over by Prof.Dr. RuşenKELEŞ, Retired Academic Member of Ankara University – Faculty of Political Sciences, and composed of other members: Prof. Dr. ÜnalALTINBAŞ – Retired Academic Member of Ege University Faculty of Agriculture Department of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition and Member of Advisory Committee of HCA, Prof. Dr. Handan TÜRKOĞLU – Academic Member of ITU Faculty of Architecture Department of Urban and Regional Planning and Member of Advisory Committee of HCA, Prof. Dr. CengizTÜRE – Head of the Department Of Ecology of Anadolu University Faculty of Science and Member of Advisory Committee of HCA, Prof. Dr. Emine Didem EVCİKİRAZ – Academic Member of Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Medicine Department of Public Health and Member of Advisory Committee of HCA, Assoc. Prof. Dr. GülATANUR – Academic Member of Bursa Technical University Faculty of Nature Sciences, Architecture and Engineering – Department of Urban and Regional Planning and Member of Advisory Committee of HCA, and Murat AR- Director of Healthy Cities Association.
As a result of the evaluations judged by the jury, the winner municipalities of the competition were respectively: the project of Denizli Metropolitan Municipality titled as “Young Denizli” in the Social Responsibility category, the project of Kadıköy Municipality titled as “The Bicycle Trails in Kadıköy District” in the Healthy City Planning category, the project of Bilecik Municipality titled as “I’m not a Technology Addict, Because I’m Smart” in the category of Healthy Living, and the project of Çankaya Municipality titled as “Integrating Street Collectors into the System” in the category of Healthy Environment.
Also, the project of Gebze Municipality titled as “Smart Future Academy”, the project of İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality titled as “Volunteering Activities”, the project of Karşıyaka Municipality titled as “An Active City: Karşıyaka” and the project of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality titled as “Solid Waste for Power Generation” were deemed worthy of Jury’s Special Award. The awards of our affiliate member municipalities that are the winners of The Awards for Healthy Cities – Best Practices 2016 will be granted at the conference themed as Renewable Energy for Healthy Cities which will be held on 14 – 15 – 16 October 2016, hosted by Mersin Metropolitan Municipality.
